Hi Zak,

A friend is visiting from the Wee North and he tells me that the Loyalists
are waging a campaign to make the North ungovernable. No doubt there are
nasty deeds afoot.  It would be bad to be old and vulnerable and to be
trapped by the Loyalist heroes.  However the analysis, that all this is the
death throes of Loyalism as they are steadily abandoned by the English
overlords, is basically correct.  But the Loyalists were always the
governors, for them to take up the cause of chaos  tears them loose from
their historic role.

What we are seeing in action in the Loyalist rioting are the dynamics of
what Bloch termed the 'non-synchronous'. Bloch warned repeatedly of the
dangers of Marxists underestimating the impact of the non-synchronous and
the rise of Nazism proved him correct.   But I cannot see any section of
the British ruling class swinging in behind the Loyalists. Capital is about
the modernising and uniting of Europe as a counter force to the USA and
whatever will emerge in Asia.

The British ruling class are divided over Europe it is true, but none of
them at present see their cause advanced by the Loyalist slogans of "What
we have we hold, This we will maintain, No surrender and Not an inch".
