Re: Scottish independence and the SSP
Richard, I'll be happy to offer my observations.
The debate has been organised by a group that I'm part of, the Glasgow
Marxist Forum.
Alan McCombes is debating with a member of the GMF.
for information.....
Debate: Should Socialists Campaign for Scottish Independence?
For: Alan McCombes.
Against: Sandy McBurney.
Venue: Partick Burgh Hall.
Thursday 20th June, 7.30pm.
GMF words....
* Is the campaign for ' An Independent Socialist Scotland' a means of
breaking up the British state
and attacking capitalism in areas where the left is strong or a product of
25 years of defeat of the organised
working class?
* Should socialists in Scotland play a part in organising the left in
England and Wales?
* The trade unions are organised across Britain, the state is passing power
to the European Union,
capitalism is globalising - how should socialists respond?
end of GMF words.
comradely,
Jim.
