Q on French Elections
I see that Chirac won an outright majority with the UMP (Union pour la
majorité Présidentielle) - www.liberation.fr has all the results in
'Législatives 2002'. It also appears that the LO/LCR both faded in the
election and didn't win any seats.
The PCF are on about 21 seats - is that a big fall? The PS are badly
contracted although they seem to have narrowly lost a whole pile of seats -
although I guess that's the impact of a first past the post between the top
2-3.
Can someone give an update on the state of play and the context?
Domhnall.
