Zimbabwean Socialists Beaten & Arrested
At a rally to commemorate anti-Apartheid activists killed in the
Soweto uprising, the police arrested 70 activists, mostly our comrades
& beat them & have put them in cells. MP Munyaradzi Gwisai was beaten
very badly. Prior to the rally Zanu PF had threatened to smash it.
Last time our comrades were arrested, loads of people phoned the
police station to ask why they were being held; it resulted in an
early release. What you can do: Phone the central police station on
(00263 4) 733033 / 721212 / 736931. Email messages of support to
isozim@xxxxxxxxxxxx Raise this at trade union meetings & with fellow
trade unionists to stop the repression of ISO comrades & opponents of
the Mugabe regime.
