At this point I will remind everyone that Steve Painter was a central leader
of the DSP at this time. It was _his_ "crude tactics and sectarian
politics" that got the DSP excluded - that is, he's calling _himself_ an
idiot here. I always enjoy pointing this kind of thing out.

With that little joke out of the way, I have to disagree that the DSP were
primarily to blame for their proscription. The right wing of the Greens
were never going to coexist with Marxists on an ongoing basis, and if they
couldn't force the Marxists out, they would split themselves. If the DSP
were "running a wrecking operation inside the Greens" it was only in that
they refused to be expelled by a rightwing _minority_ of the Greens.

Of course, there are still Marxists in the Greens, but these have pretty
well been housebroken. If they ever prove to be otherwise, they will be
kicked out too.
