I am far from convinced that the US government knew in advance of Pearl
Harbour.
They did, of course, know that a Japanese attack was imminent, but that is
not the same as knowing where an attack was going to be launched.
As an aside: the Japanese started their landings in Malaya before they
attacked Pearl Harbour. This tends to be obscured by the two operations
occurring on different sides of the International Date Line - Pearl was
attacked on the 7th of December, while the Malayan landings occurred on the
8th.
