What actually happens is that GLW writers say, "who do I/we know in France?
What are they saying?" If what "they" are saying seems to make sense,
that's the basis of the article. Lazy, perhaps, but generally more
effective than sucking a line out of your thumb. "They" in this case, are
the LCR, of course. In Indonesia "they" would be the PRD, and so on.

If what "they" are saying doesn't make sense, things become a little more
difficult, but criticising the LCR is no big deal. They might even respond.

In the case of Dick Nichols - he has had an association with various LCR
members for a good thirty years or so. What he writes will tend to reflect
that.

Well, I should hope so, since they voted to support UN troops. I'd be more
worried if they didn't defend their actions.

And you still haven't addressed the question of the PCF and PCI. The CPUSA
never really got beyond sect status, but they did.
