unUN
A friend from Portland wrote this to The Oregonian in response to a May
Day report:
The US response (front page, May 1) to Israel's refusal to allow UN
inspectors to visit "a refugee camp that is overseen by one of its own
agencies, within occupied West bank territory that is by treaty
controlled by the governing Palestinian authority." is remarkable. What
if Secretary General Kofi Annan decided Iraq's resistance to UN
inspectors on its sovereign territory "isn't worth the trouble" to
pursue? Would the US similarly declare, "we're not going to be able to
push it on our own?"
