Films with black actors

I'd throw in a couple more.

One of the best films I've ever seen - I saw it on TV many years later -
was made about 1964 or 65 and was called something like 'My Dear Charlie'
or 'My Friend Charlie' and starred Patty Duke as a young white pregnant
woman running away from her family and a black guy on the run from the law.
They were holed up together in a house somewhere in the south - on the
coast I think, and in the course of the film her racist attitudes are
challenged and changed.

One of my favourite films of recent years is 'Remember the Titans' which I
saw last year. It seemed to get very little publicity and I was amazed it
never seemed to get nominated for anything. It was the (true) story of a
black coach of a high school football team at the time schools were being
desegregated in the early 70s in Virginia (I think it was Virginia), and
how he took a bunch of white redneck football players on as their coach and
integrated the team and broke down the racial divisions. It was a really
inspiring film, the more so for being true.
