Response (Jim C): I cannot remember ever expressing the notion or belief
that Marxism will never exist in this hemisphere (it does) or the belief
that socialism (the real thing) will never exist in this hemisphere because
that is not my belief. I regard capitalism not only as a barbaric,
predatory, vile, commodifying-homogenizing, militaristic, wreckless,
narcissistic, brutal system, I also regard it as a self-destructive and
internally contradictory system that can only produce its own demise and
gravediggers; I do not believe, however, that this system will just fall of
its own weight without dedicated, informed and focused revolutionary unity,
actions and theory and I do not underestimate its resilience or ability to
offer paliatives and bogus "enemies" and other diversions to divert
attention from the real "logic", evils, victims and trajectories of the
system.
