City Fires Entire Police Department
Highland Park - Michigan,
Yesterday, February 28, apparently in celebration of the last day in our
annual African American History month, all city workers in the once
prosperous city of Highland Park were told they would be fired, "all of ya'll
except maybe one or two" effective March 14. The layoff includes every police
officer.
Sister Ramona Pearson made the announcement. Ramona Pearson, the city's
emergency financial manager was appointed by Governor Engler to take over
city finances and develop a financial plan with the goal of balancing the
budget is purported to hail from a line of distinguished African American
scholars
In this morning's Detroit Free Press, page 7D, this outstanding scholar and
noted public accountant stated, "We need the National Guard in Highland
Park," and scared the hell out of everybody in the city. In unconfirmed
reports it is rumored that the controversial public accountant is drafting an
innovative financial bailout plan involving the reinstitution of slavery,
"for those interested" on a free market basis.
The financial manager Thursday said retired workers face an end to their
pension payments. There is money to pay retired police officers two more
checks, Pearson said. Pension funds for the city will be exhausted in 23
months, she added. Apparently this was stated to allow interested citizens to
prepare for free market slavery. Sources close to the Governor are alleged to
have stated, "our administration does not like to fool people and it is only
proper to allow a person to prepare for their new life and ease the pain of
transition."
Highland Park's two pension funds are self-funded Pearson explained, and
require a city payment of $300,000 a month just to break even. During the
meeting with workers called by Pearson, she told them they could start their
layoffs Thursday if they chose and apply for unemployment compensation today.
In the same article in today's Free Press, Pearson states, "I don't think its
fair to string people along and let them work and not get paid," when they
think they are going to get paid. The mass firing or rather, indefinite
layoff includes all 50 police officers that, only one week ago in Wayne
Circuit Court, won their jobs back.
One disgruntled officer purported to have had a nervous breakdown after being
chased by other officers for trying to do his job; who also was late with a
child support payment nine years ago and alleged to date women that -
although over twenty-one, doesn't fit his profile according to government
profiling documents, stated "what kind of sh** it this, I should have
arrested her ass when she first came to town, now ain't nobody got a job."
Highland Park has about 150 workers, counting police, and all were laid off
December 14, to give them extra time with the family and strengthen the
marriage as suggested by President Bush Jr. Police Officers, members of the
Highland Park Police and Fire Fighters Association, were told their layoffs
were permanent. City workers, members of American Federation of State County
and Municipal Employees Local 25, were called back after three weeks.
Pearson explained the city had a total income of $400,000 a month in March,
April, May and June and a payroll of $300,000 a month - without police.
Payroll cost jump to $800,000 a month when the police are added.
The disgruntled officer previously mentioned, who also has bad credit rating
and other things which are a basis to question his sanity stated, "it took a
bunch of gottdamn government officials to figure out that 8 is twice as much
as 4? What kind of s*** is that?"
Currently only basic city services such as trash and water treatment will
continue. Options to save the city included bankruptcy, annexation by Detroit
or Argentina. The most backward citizens are discussing annexation with
"Somali" or countries that already have slavery in order to cut
administrative fees. The city could become a township or proclaim itself a
new People Republic and peopleize the local electrical generating facilities,
water treatment facility, Cable Company and try collective farming - although
no one remembers how to plant anything.
In a totally unrelated story that has nothing what so ever to do with the
financial disaster that hit Highland Park, the artist formerly know as the
artist that was formerly know as Prince, is now just Prince and appearing at
the Detroit Opera House, 1526 Broadway, Detroit. Prince new spring tour is
called "One Nite Along With Prince" and designed to provide a more intimate
setting. Tickets are $125, $85 and $50 for those who do not desire intimacy.
Additionally, the movement to get Bob Seger in the Rock in Roll Hall of Fame
has picked up steam, with supporters vowing to get off Main Street and work
on some Night Moves.
In other news Detroiter sister Aaliyah - whose untimely death in an airplane
crash shocked the city and nation, has her new movie opening today, "Anne
Rice's "Queen of the Damned."
The disgruntled officer's when questioned about our beloved Aaliyah's
untimely death stated, "what'n she one of those Cass Tech muth****** who put
too much luggage on that little plane. I thought they taught y'all how to
count and add things up. She mustta tried to buy up the whole country and
wouldn't loan me no money for my child support."
