My last point
To go back to my argument about Sinn Fein, I will illustrate it with the
example of the "Andersonstown News". The Andersonstown News is a community
paper (very popular) in West Belfast. It gives a good picture of what the
grassroots think and do. Originally, it was a "resistance" newspaper. But
today, you have plenty of business pages with congratulations on the
entrepreunerial culture of some people in West Belfast, editorials by ex-SF
councellors impressed by the number of Black millionaires in South Africa
since the end of Apartheid and saying its about time there are millionaires
in west belfast. There was even once a suggestion by Mairtin O Muillor that
a casino be opened in one of the British Army bases -we should do like the
Native Americans.
This did not exist ten years ago. Judging by the pages of the Andytown news
(which are representative of what happens in West Belfast), one can say that
SF has changed.
