Just a message to wish Nestor and his comrades well in the coming
months.  I have like everyone else been paying very close attention to the
situation in Argentina.  What a boon this list is at such a time.

My ignorance is pretty complete with regard to Argentina, but I think we
have to understand events there as the second wave of the
anti-globalisatiion movement. Of course it is a deeper and qualitatively
different moment in that movement, but the decades of neo-liberal economics
have borne very bitter fruit indeed.  An entire nation in the streets and
not simply a few thousand anarchists however brave.

De La Rua and Cavallo have gone and with them the cant of TINA - there is
no alternative.  The oligarchy is scrambling to find an alternative.  It is
wonderful how the fear of expropriation can concentrate the minds of the
bourgeoisie, and suddenly all sorts of alternatives emerge.

The oligarchy are now playing their Peronist card - presumably the new
president is a left Peronist compared to the first choice
President.  Beyond the Peronists surely lies the military caste - the last
line of defence.

Whatever happens the necessary condition - mass popular spontaneous
mobilisations - has entered the stage.  Something totally unexpected. And
something totally to be welcomed.

A harbinger of what I hope will be a very happy New Year for all of us.
