Re: Socialist Economics and the Current Crisis

>From Jim Drysdale,

Donal writes....

military-industrial spend associated with the war, should drive the economy.
The problems with these measures are that .....*jd....which Donal follows
with a list of bourgeois economic problems and the inability of rulers to
fire growth.*

and.....

***** Donal, firstly, I do feel that your questions are being answered by
others, even if not directly under your own thread. In short, others are
offering an holistic analysis of decline (and transition) that goes beyond
*appearence only* bourgeois commentary. (i.e. wish lists)

***** To see the essence imbedded within the replies of others Donal,
requires a clear reading of scientific socialism. Not to say comrade, that
you do not possess some understanding. However, if our class had
understanding they would understand that socialism has never universally
been on offer. Thus, the working class, thankfully, have not *really lost
all hope in Socialism* precisely because socialism has never been revealed
to them in its essence. Further, it is within struggle that our class come
to awareness. We, on lists, in our various ways can talk about decline and
transition. We can see that capital and thus capitalist society is well
into its greatest ever crisis. That it is *the greatest crisis ever*, due
only to the suspension of revolution and certainly not brought on by the
mis-management of our rulers. Point....old forms or resurrecting capital
occured within earlier moments of decline and cannot now be repeated. This,
a short term problem for humanity, in the long run (not so long now one
hopes) the death knell of the capitalist class, and thus capitalist
relations. But even our chat, informed as it may be, does not advance
awareness among our class. That is, the alternative to capitalist society
is not decided within the battle of *economic ideas* or even within moral
arguments. (same thing really)

***** Donal, I hope that the above is constructive. Deeper understanding
can be gained by attending to the thought of Marx in Capital Vol 1 chapter
1.

comradely,

Jim.
