It is interesting to realize how old nightmares are refurbished by the wave of 
reaction that set in during the 1990s. I have recently learnt on this list that 
a hundred years ago, the Northern bourgeoisie of Australia, had attempted 
exactly the same thing.

It takes us to a more general discussion, that of up to which point the 20th. 
Century was a long parenthetical age and in which exact sense we are back in 
the situation that led to World War I.
