Giving carte blanche to the west to re-establish domination over your
country to sort out a lousy leader hardly constitutes "taking a side". If,
as you say, half the Zim population favours inviting in the west to sort out
the country's problems, this effectively represents the liquidation of any
notion of independence and means that there is no collective self-conscious
opposition left. Any self-respecting left needs to speak out firmly against
this rather than just tail the MDC as you suggest. The attitude one takes to
this sort of problem today is fundamental to building any sort of
independent future movement.
