Ernie is a few years older than me and lives in Canada where he makes his
living as a skilled factory worker. In the 1960s he was a central leader of
the British section of the Fourth International (ISEC) and played a major
role in launching the Vietnam antiwar movement. He recruited Tariq Ali to
the Trotskyist movement and a number of other young radicals. In the early
60s he had a falling out with the Healyites and they beat him up. This
became the focus of a major free speech fight on the left.

He was on the list briefly but had to unsub because he travels around a
lot. Apparently he submitted an article analyzing the collapse of the USSR
to MR which was rejected which I posted here. I feel like I am in good
company. Ernie is a true organic intellectual and you should pay careful
attention to what he writes. He has the mass movement in his bloodstream.
