A valid point. It reminds me of when HBO did that
documentary on Mumia. During one of his interviews, he
said that he still believed the justice system would
eventually free him (quantifying that with "I know how
naive that sounds"). But he's got a valid point - any
chance, no matter how small, is better than no chance
at all.

I think there was a part of our brains - call it the
"hope" section vs. the "rational" section - that hoped
that Clinton, leaving office and with no need for
re-election hoopla, would do something noble. It's
similar to the Democrats hoping that the Shrub *won't*
appoint only anti-choice candidates to SCOTUS.
Everybody knows better, but people tend to hope for
the best.
