As George W. Bush and his backers ready themselves for days of
celebration, other Americans continue to remind the world of the
unprecedented reversal of the democratic process that got Bush here.
A full-page ad in The New York Times carried a protest from 554 law
professors representing 120 American law schools. They charged that the
five conservative U.S. Supreme Court justices who prevented a full recount
in Florida were "acting as political proponents for candidate Bush, not as
judges."
