The legend of Alan Maki

(I want to urge comrades to look at Alan Maki's website at:
http://www.interlog.com/~almaki/bio.htm. In my opinion, he makes many of
the same sorts of grandiose and improbable claims as another world famous
political refugee Bob Malecki. This is Maki's explanation for why he
demanded political asylum in Canada: he was being persecuted in Michigan
because he was a member of the CPUSA. I have known many CP'ers over the
years, both on the Internet and through my work in Nicaragua. I never heard
such outlandish nonsense from any of them.)

Our children were shot at with shotguns while waiting for the school bus
when they were in elementary school. I was shot at on three occasions. The
first I was getting out of my truck to go deer hunting and a bullet tore
through the driver side door, shattering the window and making a hole in
the frame. One of our vehicles, while parked, was shot up beyond repair.
The second time I was getting out of my car in the parking lot on a main
street in Grand Rapids, Michigan when gunfire erupted and the car driver
side window was blown out. The third time I was shot at and hit with a
BB/pellet gun, while fishing on Bill's Lake in Newaygo County, Michigan and
hit in the leg; Roger Geitzen, the head of the Newaygo, County Republican
Party and well known member of the John Birch Society shot me while
yelling, "go back to Russia" and other such things. There have been
numerous death threats and threats of violence. The strange thing is that
no one was ever found in spite of the fact that the Michigan State Police
and the FBI had wire taps on my phone for many years. The family pets were
targets of repeated acts of violence and animal cruelty.

I have been arrested, taken into police custody and put in jail well over
sixty times - usually the charges were dropped. Petty charges like
"expectorating" on a public sidewalk, etc. In several instances my attorney
simply negotiated small fines because it wasn't worth the expense to fight
all the trumped-up charges. The arrests got so frequent that my attorney,
Alphonse Lewis, once told the prosecutor and the judge that, "Maybe I
should just lock up the office so that I can walk around town with my
client. That way I can get a ride right to the police station at the same
time".

Another time I was arrested for some kind of petty charges and Alphonse
Lewis came down to bail me out. He came into the lockup cell where I was
being held and told me he would have me, "out in fifteen minutes, a half
hour at the most". Just after he left the lockup a Captain Stoddard of the
Grand Rapids Police Department entered my cell with other cops and started
pushing me and shoving me around. Stoddard began hollering things like, "I
see you got that big black nigger down here setting you out again" "fuckin'
Jews and niggers - Hitler had the right idea" "we'll fix you!". Eventually
a big fight started and I was grabbed by my hair as my feet and arms were
being held while Stoddard bashed my head into the steel bars. I was beat up
so badly that the cops didn't even dare take me into the courtroom for a
long time. I could hear Alponse Lewis out in the hall arguing with the
cops. The cops threatened to arrest him. By the time I was brought out for
arraignment neither my mother or my attorney recognized me at first because
I was beaten so badly and my clothing was ripped and soaked with blood.
