Hi Lou!

>Believe it or not, I don't like personal and political >feuds. I try my
best to keep this list moving forward. >Trust me, it is not an easy
task. There are very smart >people here who like to push the envelope. I
don't >mind if >people do so, but in return they have to >expect some

Lou, I think that you are doing your best as a moderator to move
discussions forward here. It must be really hard to create a genuine
comradely environment where comrades disagree while *still* not over
stating their differences or becoming divisive. So your job is very
precious for us as Marxists. It reminds me of Lenin, that marvelous
man, trying to unite the left before and after the revolution in
Russia. I can also add that this is a forum where subscription or
unsubcrioption is completely on a voluntary basis. If we people want to
*unsubscribe for any reason , it is their own decision to do so. I guess
this is what happened with Yoshie. People make choices in life. If they
get upset or demoralized by others' criticisms easily, may be, it is
just better for them to take a hint & unsub. We are mature people after
all, not a child requesting chocolate from her mother or father.

ps: Since I was busy writing my proposal (and am still is), I could not
keep track of native issues thread so closely. I was logged off for a
while. Let me say that I totally agree with Jim Craven and I strongly
protest Alan Maki's personal insults and accusations directed at Jim in
this thread. Alan, when are you gonna stop insulting people and
rationally addressing issues here? I was also sad to see articles on the
list judging native issues from a bourgeois point of view, as if all all
the people engaging in the struggle for indigenous people's rights were
reformist beings or robbers trying to take advantage of natives. This is
an unfortunate generalization that helps nothing but muddle the
realities of exploitation and Social Darwininist assimilation
systematically directed at Indians for years. I have heard many times
from you and Jim that corruption is a significant issue within the
tribes, so I have no fucking idea why this issue was intentionally
raised. One does not _have to_ be a reformist to be in support of
indigenous rights. This is a separate issue that every Marxist on this
list _should know_.. Sometimes I am just under the impression that some
people like to create troubles or don't like to accept issues related
to preservation of Indian culture.

in solidarity,

Xxxx
