I think that those groups that function in total outside of stated class
politics and where the religious aspects of their motivation takes on such a
huge and total aspect of their being then they are irrational. Groups like
the Iranian Mujahadeen, "Left Islamists", for example, are not irrational,
since they try to correspond to the class struggle within an Islamicist
perspective, where the Islamic politics, as the Catholic politics of
Solidarity, had clear programmatic goals, and in fact, class goals. I find
groups like the Taliban and their theological fascism, bin Laden's group,
etc to be irrational. Their actions, if in fact they are responsible for the
actions of 9/11, are simply insane and serve no rational political end.
