The PST shared a common origin with the PRT, and both came down from the
splintering political grenade that the Old Great Socialist Party had become by
the mid 60s, when the reality of the 1955 gorilla coup that the Socialists had
hailed became clear to whoever wanted to see. The MAS was the electoral
coverage of the PST, and the political line had NO difference at all with that
of the PST.

The PRT opted for guerrilla, and formed the ERP.
