More on the Kangaroos
I have had the benefit of a fair bit of cafe discussion behind me re my
post on the Kangaroos (the team name!) who refused to go to Britain. The
point I was trying to make is that it seems significant to me that an
Australian team representing Rugby League the most authentically working
class sport in Australia should refuse to tour Britain. If they won't go
and play a bloody football match - how are the ruling class going to get
them to go to Afghanistan or where ever to fight?
The answer is of course that it needs the Labor Party to get the Australian
working class to go abroad to kill and be killed. Moreover that is why I
think that although Labor is behind in the polls they may still sneak a
victory in the election.
regards
Gary
