Re: Rally today

Well Lou,

It was a platform run by anarchists and you know what they are like when it
comes to free speech. She was unfortunately heckled by a drunk who got
violent but she was protected, and did get thourgh her speech which was a
long one. Actually she was an extraordinary image - dressed all in black
with only her eyes showing. The contradictions were enormous for me. There
she was covered up in case a man saw her and yet she was one of the most
forceful and toughest speakers I have ever heard.

You are correct of course about the American troops in Saudi Arabia, but
she opposed them as Bin Laden does on the grounds that they are on holy
land. Not *quite* our line, methinks.

warm regards

Gary

Actually of course Osama has OUR line on US troops in Saudi Arabia (get them
out!) ("our" means every socialist in the world, I would hope). I'm
impressed that the rally organizers were advanced enough to allow her to
speak. I don't think the Chicago anti-war coalition, which is drifting
rightward, I think, would permit it.

Lou
