I think Lou is bang on here. I first heard Kevin Annett's story about
two years ago on Co-op Radio (alternative community radio) in Vancouver
BC, and have since heard him interviewed on that station many times. He
*never* has anybody with him from the native community to support his
views, and spends most of his time denouncing as agents of the dark
forces anyone who opposes or disagrees with what he's doing in any way.
One comes away from the program with a sense of how Kevin Annett is
himself the victim because he was fired from the church and is now an
outcast from the supposedly corrupt Tribunal. Conspiracy fans just lap
this stuff up! Though I don't know much about what's really going on
with this and don't want to say too much, I can easily believe Annett is
hijacking a tragic situation for his own satisfaction and doing more
harm than good as a consequence. When he talks (titilatingly) about how
this or that residential school victim was murdered shortly after
speaking to him, I have to wonder if he is himself to blame given his
propensity for blabbing to anyone who'll listen.
