Capitalistic representative democracy has been designed to represent only
capitalism's special interest. The laws and their interpretation are poised to
defend the very principles that socialism opposes: private property,
unemployment as a legitimate device to preserve the value of capital, etc.
In the US, less than 50% of the public vote and only those who are supportive of
the system vote.
At this moment of history, the "democratic" process is a tool of the capitalist
establishment to legitimize itself. At the height of absolute monarchy, the
public believed that monachyism was a natural law. Now the public in the West
believe that capitalism is the only workable system. The Western left is no
longer trying to overthrow capitalism. It is only trying to ask for small
favors from the establishment, such as freedom of speech.
