Not to make a stupid comparison, but just to give an interesting piece
of news: same thing happens (or happened) with Leftists in Uruguay,
that charming little "Switzerland of the River Plate".

But there is an explanation: the Jewish community in Uruguay has
always been very small, tremendously compact, and particularly
exploitive. There are few, if any, Uruguayan middle class Jews, most
if not all are very rich. And in a country where integration and
mixing is almost a religious faith, only the Jews have been striving
to remain a kin apart.

For those with an idea of what goes on in the River Plate, this is
quite surprising, because Uruguay has a well earned reputation for
tolerance and respect for human rights (please take into account that
I am not speaking of any consequence of the period of
military-imperialist rule after Bordaberry, but of a generalized trend
among Uruguayan Leftists).
