Re: The CPA and Aboriginal Activismwas RE: Scholarship and politics (was Re: Proyect v Woods)

On Lang as "national revolutionary" leader:

It is necessary to point out his dirty side, too. First, he was firmly
associated with the Right of the Labor Party for most of his career (well
into the 50s).

Worse though: he was one of a cabal of Labor leaders with substantial
"investments" in Fiji.

That is, one of the leaders, or perhaps _the_ leader, who came closest to
leading Australia into a socialist revolution was - an imperialist
capitalist!

< Excuse me. I might go find a truck to walk in front of. >

OK, I've calmed down now. Obviously this clown was never going to lead a
revolution. He did come remarkably close to leading the working class into
a civil war. Unsurprisingly, he backed off. (Notionally, he might not have
been given an opportunity to back off.)

Look, we really have *got* to deal with the Labor SOBs. They are worse than
merely embarassing. They turn even our most heroic moments into farce.

Enough. I think I've written myself out on this topic for a while.
