A historical fact? What do you call the British East India Company? Or the
Hudson Bay Company? The mercantile phase of capitalism is marked by a
tightly-knit symbiotic relationship between the state and embryonic forms
of capital. The state protected such ventures as seedlings are protected in
a nursery. All this is discussed at length in v3 of Capital. Maybe you
should stick to abstractions and lay off the facts.
