I could do that but it would be a personal definition and an ideosyncratic
one: there is no universally accepted definition of these terms, it differs
from country to country. In this respect you are better off using an
encyclopedia or dictionary, and trace the evolving meaning of the terms.
The substantive reason for my own preferred label "socialist" is that I
think that critical-scientific socialist thought includes much more than
Marx and Marxist thought, and that I don't want to be associated
politically with the "official" communist movement of the past.
