G.E.M. de Ste. Croix on Christianity

G.E.M. de Ste. Croix, _The Class Struggle in the Ancient
Greek World: from the Archaic Age to the Arab Conquests_
(Cornell Univ. Press, 1981).
A really magnificent book from a Marxist classical scholar. His
take even on early Christianity is that it was on the side of the
oppressors from the very beginning.
I think he is wrong on the Athenian Democracy, but even
there his perspective is illuminating. The only real defect of
the book is its price.
