Lou Paulsen -- or anyone else -- couldn't possibly have provided a more full and
sensitive analysis of these sorts of life/death issues -- and the levels of
decisional pathos -- than the one he just has. It fell to me -- the oldest
offspring -- to secure the family consensus and make the decision regarding
withdrawal of life support mechanisms in my father's case a number of years ago.
My brothers and I have just been through a tough pull in my mother's situation
-- she was 94, had been out of things for a couple of years. We appreciate the
depth and thoughtfulness and personal dimensions in his fine and solid
assessment of this always lonely and personal trail in which "objectivity"
cannot keep up Hunter Hunter Gray (Hunterbear)
