Nope, just structural adjustment, EU-style. Sort of like what happened to
the Czech Republic's Skoda auto firm. Maybe Michigan could apply for EU
structural funds or something. Actually, this is a great opportunity for
some trans-Atlantic labor activism -- the folks at IG Metall,
incidentally, are super pissed at the SPD's ratbastard neoliberalism.
Their latest magazine has an interview with Klaus Zwickel, head honcho of
the union, saying words to the effect of, we'd vote for a socialist
party -- if one existed in Germany.
