Torture for peace
The implication seems to be that those methods of repression be used on
the Arabs and not the Jews. I have not heard anything about
recommendations of torture, etc. as effective methods of control for
Israeli "extremists" or ""Israeli terrorism" - a phrase used only once
and in reference to Jewish settlers' groups". Could you imagine the
horror in the New York media if those Uzi-toting Brooklynites in the
Gush Emunyim squats on the West Bank were roughly rousted by the Isreali
police??! Has the IDF used rubber bullets, tear gas and live ammo on
the bullying settlers who peremptorally bulldozed olive groves of
Palestinian farmers? Actually, it seems the Israeli gov't tacitly
approves of "illegal" settlements and when evicted and expropriated
locals react they are condemned as attackers of innocent civilians and
the Israelis dynamite their homes.
Of course, I may have received erroneous information.
I am open to more "intelligence".
Speaking of which:
I can't help but wonder about the vilification of the enemy and the
limitlessness of war when I later read on this list a person who warned
us to take note of the abuses and crimes of the FARC as well as those of
the capitalists. Do you know of la corbata? Only the right-wing death
squads of Central America and Colombia terrorize villagers with "the
necktie." Even as underdogs the peasant armies have not perpetrated a
fraction of the abuses and hideous crimes of their antagonists. That is
why they are at war in the first place. Do you think that the sort of
counter-insurgency recommendations of US think tanks only goes to
Israel? Remember the Blue Book of the Contra war. The fighters in the
mountains and jungles of the northern Andes know. As for the Drug
problem, I submit that it is a disease of capitalism and will not be
stamped out until capitalism is stamped out.

Chris Brady
