Re: debating Slavery


Georg Lukacs describes the southern slave system as capitalist in
'Destruction of Reason'. It's not one of his best books, but the section
on the rise of racism is quite interesting.

British Marxist/sociologist Robert Miles has written a fair bit on unfree
labour and regards various forms of unfree labour as vital to the
development of capitalism. See, for instance, 'Capitalism and Unfree
Labour: anomlaly or necessity?'
