In this case, the historical conjuncture being Julio engaging in a bit of
Anglo-baiting(*) with his "French revo was greater than the English revo
stuff", and me being bored and engaging in a bit of sport.

This "revisionism" would be more serious if I had actually meant a word of
it.

For my next trick: the Genghis Khan - monster or progressive unifying
force? Needless to say, I think the latter. I have always thought it was
a shame that the Mongolian revolutionary state felt the need to disown him.
Few nations have such great figures in their history, and frankly, they
should be flaunted....

In all seriousness though, I do find the relationship between the English
Revolution, Ireland and Scotland fascinating. Keep up the discussion.
I'll just sit down here and behave from now on.

Oh dear - with one exception:

No it didn't! The English had been in Ireland for centuries by Cromwell's
time. They had colonies in North America, and (perhaps - I'm not sure of
the dates here) the Caribbean too. They had been energetic pirates against
France, the Netherlands and Spain throughout most of their history. (Of
course, in many cases this was mutual, but hey...)

_Now_ I will behave.

(*) Anglos probably deserve a bit of baiting, but that still doesn't mean
that they can't play too!
