Tape reveals police mocked WEF protesters
Melbourne police have been caught on tape deriding the protesters at the
World Economic Forum.
The officers were recorded having an exchange about a group of streakers.
On the the final day of the three-day forum, the streakers attempted to
lighten what had often been a series of violent confrontations between
police and protesters.
One Melbourne resident with a home scanner recorded a police conversation.
"We have a series of streakers running northbound outside of the Crown
Casino," one police officer said.
When one officer asked if the streakers were female, another officer said:
"sorry... they are all male" and another suggested "spray their genitals
with capsicum spray".
The person who recorded the audio says it then took police half an hour to
find a van to take the naked men away.
Victoria police have been contacted, but have not yet responded to this
recording.
