Forwarded from Anthony (submarines in the Andes)

Hi again.
If you think my last note, about left electoral politics in the USA was a
little bizarre, try this one on.
Bogota is about 8,500 feet above sea-level. It is seperated by rugged
mountains and hundreds of miles from the nearest seaport.
Hardly the place to build submarines. Right?
Wrong!
Just outside of the industrial suburb of Fontibon, in a big warehouse
rented by a gringo - the police uncovered a hundred foot long submarine
under construction!
Pictures are all over the TV and newspapers. This is not a joke, or an
amusement park ride - it is a real submarine high in the colombian Andes.
Along with the pictures of the submarine, the TV cameras also show designs,
manuals, and tools with writing in Russian, embossed with our symbol -
sadly abused by the heirs of Stalin - the hammer and sickle.
The submarine was built in sections, apparently so that it could be
transported for final assembly in a seaport.
Its cargo capacity is said to be 200 tons.
