RE: An advice from graying Nestor to young Andrej

Nester,

Yes, it is a beautiful post. In its clarity of thought and sensitivity to
the complex ideological and political crises we Marxist revolutionaries in
the Third World are exposed to as imperialism plays out its cruel dramas.

I read the pain in Andrej (and sense of betrayal?), the same pain I see in
Zimbabwean Left Comrades when we Zambians caution them against adopting an
uncritical attitude to the fight against "Mugabe", as lead by the openly
pro-imperialist MDC. The refrain then, as it is now in the case of
Zimbabwe, was that we would be able to sort out the "Right wingers" once we
dealt with our "common local enemy".

We too (and I now can humbly speak with the deadening wisdom that comes
after bitter failure) were warned to rise above our immediate distaste of
our local "dictator", who was solidly anti imperialist and recognize the
ever present hand of this (imperialism) animal in the new "multi-party
democracy".

The pain from the wounds inflicted on us by our local dictator blinded us
to the full reality of our true situation.

Again, it is not my intention to dilute the complexity of your personal
experiences and the issues you and Adrej are grappling with. But the
manner in which you illustrated our Third World predicament sharply relayed
to me my own situation.

Thanks for your thoughts. And yes, they were properly drafted, too.

Azwell.

"The wisdom of a reactionary regime does not lie in the ways it prepares
the terrain for the parties of the right, it lies in the ways it generates
its own Left."

I must muse over this line for a while........
