Actually Posadas never said he believed in UFO's. This was just an
accusation made by his factional opponents in the world Trotskyist
movement. He wrote an article in the 1950s--when speculation about
extraterrestrials was rife--that made the point: if there are flying
saucers, then that would probably indicate a higher level of social
development on the other planet since it would require advanced technology
to enable space travel, etc. Fairly uncontroversial stuff. What was much
crazier, in my opinion, was the notion that scattered bands of Trotskyists
would lead proletarian revolution worldwide. It is much more likely that we
will see space aliens in our lifetime.
