Paul Phillips paper
- Subject: Paul Phillips paper

I put a copy of a paper Paul Phillips wrote on the Marxism list website at:
http://www.marxmail.org/phillips.htm
Here is a bit of explanation from Paul:
Louis,
I am attaching an article I wrote with my Yugo/Slovenian colleague
on the legacy of socialist self-management. I submitted it to a
number of academic journals all of which either turned me down or
did not even respond -- and without a word of explanation of why
they did. I finally submitted it to the Socialist Studies Bulletin (the
Canadian peer-reviewed journal of the Society of Socialist Studies)
and it is comming out in the next edition. On reading the page
proofs of the article, I think it is quite academically defensible and
this leads me to the conclusion that the reason it was rejected was
ideological -- that we defended self-management and Yugo style
socialism though only indirectly. Perhaps you might want to post
it to your web page and ask for comments -- though in doing so,
maybe you could promote the Society of Socialist Studies which is
publishing the article. (By the way, there are some few
amendments that should be made but I don't know how to do that
to an attachment. None of them have any significant importance to
the major argument in any case.)
