Re: [Turkey and Islamic Capitalism]

Dear Julio!

Just a quick note here. The best scholarly book on the Muslim Brothers, their
origin and social activity as well as politics is without a doubt in my
opinion:

"The Society of the Muslim Brothers" by Richard P. Mitchell, originally
published in 1969.

Mitchell was not a Marxist but he was a keen observer, knew his subject and
was free of the huge prejudices that usually attend this sort of study. I
think that's the best place to start. He really deals with their social side
whereas earlier works all just treated them as a political phenomenon.

I don't know about any online references to the Muslim Brothers, although they
probably exist. But I'd check out Mitchell's book if you want a solid
introduction.

Revolutionary greetings!

Abu Nasr

PS. I'd like to learn more on the intellectual origins of the Muslim
Brotherhood in Egypt and its views on socio-economic questions. Can you
suggest any online resources? Thank you for the references you gave me on
women and Islam in Egypt.
Comradely,
Julio
