Toledo attended Stanford but he did not study economics as he had at
first intimated when launching his candidacy. If I am not mistaken he
studied some aspect of agronomy, perhaps the business end of it, I don't
know for sure. When he came to the US my father was working for the
Agrarian Reform in Peru and it was he who connected Toledo with Stanford
and wrote him letters of introduction and recommendation. No one at his
former workplace ever heard from him again.

Curiously, my father also worked with,or rather, under, Fujimori at the
National Agrarian University when the latter became rector. He voted
for both men, was sorely disappointed with Fujimori and, I suspect,
expects no more from Toledo.
