Land, Bread and Sex!

Comrade Julio: I fear that you have made a rush to judgement about me which
is inaccurate. I do not label everyone who irritates me as a 'fascist', nor
do I label movements or power formations as 'fascist' without reference to
some strict criteria. I never use the idiot-speak of "social fascism" nor
do I label Stalin as a "Red Fascist". That is not me and I must protest
being dumped into the same heap as your associates on some other list. If
you would be interested in my criteria, that is one thing, but to assume
that I have no criteria is incorrect and discourteous.

Now, when you speak of Willhelm Reich and his theories of psychological
reductionism to explain fascism as purely a dynamic of 'mass psychology'
then I fear that I must be on the wrong bulletin board. Are there any
'pyschological reductionist' theories to explain socialism and socialists?
You claim that you do not pander to some universalist foundation or
expression for all flavors of fascism that we have seen, yet you seach for
some inherent 'fascist gland' that is activated inside most/all human beings
when fascism picks up steam. What is the antidote to quiet this 'fascist
gland'? What sort of 'mass psychology' therapy does Reich recommend?
Sexual intercourse, ah yes, that I believe was his prescription . . . . or
does my memory fail me about Reich's theories? Mass orgies, now that just
might de-rail a fascist movement indeed. Let us see, shall we raise the
slogan: "Land, Bread and Sex!" You see, comrade, if you buy the diagnosis
then you also buy into the cure. If the cure is ridiculous, perhaps the
diagnosis should be re-examined. If the diagnosis is 'psychological
reductionist' then it may not be of interest to 'political' minds, no matter
how much fun the 'cure' might turn out to be.

Now I agree that not all bourgesois sectors will happily pave the way for
fascism. Your observation is correct here, but it is not enlightening. Well
and long-established bourgesoisies will thwart fascism as long as possible
but weaker and less-established bourgesoisies may lack the means and the
know-how to crush both a socialist movement one day and then crush a fascist
movement on the next day. Permitting a fascist movement to attain political
power so as to defend a bourgesoisie against a militant workers movement is
an act of desperation, a last ditch gambit. Yet and still, once the hard
choice is made to back the fascist on a white horse, well, shall we say,
'money is no object'. Let the myth-making begin and the people will be
bombarded continuously with the chosen myth of this flavor of fascism, on
the air waves, on the streets and in the newspapers. Thus, the weaker and
more intimidated a certain bourgesoisie, the more likely that the hard
choice toward fascism will be made during a capitalist crisis.
