Nestor: This is a commentary on the endemic character of paid murder in
the State of Ceara, something that had been supposedly erradicated by
the twin governments of the "Social-democratic" governors Tasso
Jereissati and Cyro Gomes, the latter a pupil of Roberto Mangabeira
Unger's , Harvard Law School professor and author of _Law in Modern
Society_ (known in Brazil mostly for speaking Portuguese with a heavy
American accent, I fear) and today  presidential candidate for 2002 on
the ticket of the Popular Socialist Party (the successor organization to
the old Brazilian CP, and completly opportunist)proposing , above all,
to act as a good errand-boy for the IMF with so-far a clean sheet - or
at least a record less evident than Cardoso's.
