There seems to be a strong reaction agaist the show of force the US used in
removing Elian from Miami. This is true among opponents of NATo and so on.
I wrote the following in response to this cmment by a woman on the STOPNATO
e-list:

CB: Usually there are not hundreds or thousands of hostile people posturing as
if to
block the police when they come to a house. The Mayor of Miami at one point
said the
Miami police would not help, which is a sort of incitement to the crowd to
resist the
feds. Then there were rumors that people were armed inside the house.

This situaton was about as far from a typical INS or police raid as you could
get.
