L-I: Detroit Black website discussion of Elian

>From www.det-drums.com

By Aziz on Wednesday, April 19, 2000 - 11:44 pm:
As CubaBlack posted,

Cuba is opening not only 1 but 2 medical schools. 1 for Haitians who speak
French or
Patois, and the other for Spanish/English speaking people.

The rationale was the expediency of training medical teams for Haiti. The
language
barrier would deter or extenuate the training. Hence the 2nd school for
Haitians.
Venezuela is assisting with the project.

RENO please let the kid return home with his father.

The issue is critical - if Elian is not physically returned to his father before
November 2000 - His father will not see his son again! Bush and Gore have
promised to
deny the father his natural rights to his son unless he declares his "desire for
freedom" and leave Cuba - The new administration in January 2001 will appoint a
new
Attorney General that will not seek to reunite Elian with his father! THE
ANSWER TO
THE QUESTION IS - LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS 1957 - CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL - PRESIDENT
CLINTON
SEND THE TROOPS - SAVE THIS CHILD FROM HIS 'FAMILY' IN MIAMI AND REUNITE HIM
WITH HIS
FATHER UNTIL THE COURTS DECIDE WHETHER ELIAN CAN LEAVE THE US! - Zenas Law

One Love to All,

I am quite sure that by now we are either tired of the Elian Gonzalez story or
we are
appalled with the way politics and (In)justice play a negative role in
victimizing a
father's reunification with his son.

The so-called guardians of Elian Gonzalez have created an environment of
defiance and
civil diobedience for the laws of the land. Who is Lazaro Gonzalez to thumb his
nose
at the government of the United States? How can people of disrepute get such
power to
tell the Attorney Genaral and the government to "go to hell"? How can he do this
without big money from politicians and anti-Castro fanatics who have an ax to
grind
with Fidel Castro?

Do you understand that the issue of Elian does have everything to do with Cuba
and
Fidel Castro? Why are Americans jumping on the band wagon to demand that Elian
remain
in the United States because of what will happen to him when he returns to Cuba
and
that he would have a better life there? Better, compared to what?

The excessant inuendos and lies about Elian's father, Juan Miguel Gonzalez is a
tragedy. How many of you reading this statement would like to see your child
taken to
another country whose people don't even know you, yet demand that your child not
return to you? If Elian's situation were reversed and one of his parents took
him to
Cuba against the other parent's will; by now the United States would have issued
ultimatiums for the return of the boy. Not only that, military action may have
been
excersized by now.

The issue here is the hatred for Fidel Castro, not the Cuban people. Fidel
Castro is
the reason for this international nonsense. If the United States used some
common
sense and normalized diplomatic relations with Cuba after communism died in
Europe and
Asia, by now, El Comandante would have been retired and Cuba could have an
opportunity
for modernization and true 'democracy'. The fact that Juan Miguel Gonzalez is a
member
of the communist party of Cuba is not America's business. Aren't there more
people in
the world who does not believe in some of America's false sense of democracy??
Let the
boy be with hiis father.

Strange, most countries in the world do business with Cuba, isn't it time that
our
Uncle Sam do likewize?? Our neighbour Canada does, so what's the problem here?
The
United States does business or maintain diplomatic relations with countries
such as
China and former Soviet Union countries that were physically engaged in war
with the
United States. The Republic of Vietnam where over 500 thousand US soldiers lost
their
lives fighting for someone else's freedom (not the US) has full diplomatic
relations
with the USA. What happen to Cuba? As long as the dogmatic isolation continues,
Fidel
Castro will remain in Office until he retires, dies or removed from office.

The three judge federal appeals panel in Atlanta created a dangerous precidence
when
they agreed with people who defy governmental directives to turn over the boy
to his
father and dictated that the boy remain in the USA. The notion that a 6 year
old boy
can dictate to his father that he does not want to be with him is beyond my
wildest
dreams. The notion that the boy should be interviewed to see if he wants
political
asylum is utter nonsense. Elian Gonzalez cannot make such a critical decision
for
himself, his father is the only ligitimate person to speak on his behalf. The
mental
damage inflicted on Elian will hurt him for the rest of his life. His so-called
family
in Miami has created an atmosphere of falsehood for the boy and a potential for
violence and bloodshed if the government proceed to secure the boy.

If other ethnic groups whould have done the same, governmental intervention
would be
swift and sure. I hope that all Africans, Haitians, Jamaicans and Caribbeanites
take a
good look at the (A)Elien Gonzalez case and do likewise if you find yourself in
a
situation where an order for deportation is issued to you or your family. If
Elian was
a little black boy, the rest of America probably would not care about his
family and
possibly would demand his return to Cuba, Jamaica or Haiti because they cannot
afford
to take care of his "welfare" while millions of dollars have been spent in this
silly
tug-o-war involving A(e)lien Gonzalez.

How disgraceful for Afican Americans to agree with the Cubans in Miami to
separate the
boy from his father! The concept of strong family ties is strong in the African
family. After all of this nonsense is finally ended and Elian is back in Cuba
with his
father, the Cuban community will not even remember your support, they will go
back to
discriminate against you as they do when you are in Miami, as if they own the
place.

Finally, in my humble opinion, the Atlanta judges are wrong in their ruling
concerning
the case for Elian Gonzalez. They are blinded by political ambitions and
misunderstand
the concept of family. They have jumped on the band wagon of anti-Castroism and
have
agreed with criminal elements in this truly unAmerican sense of reality.

This is my take. I am sure that there are disagreements in what I have to say
and
that's your perogative.

Peace to all.

THe ELian issue is not whether or not the child will be returned to his father
and
Cuba, he will. But how will the power structure in this country respond to a
power
structure in another country that does not openly oppress black people.

Whatever poliicians say the boy will be united with his father and they will
return to
Cuba. Gore will let this happen and so will Bush. No court in the land can
legally
grant the Miami relatives custody rights. THis is why they are avoiding a
supreme
court rulling. IT would be finall and no federal appelate court (who are
dominated by
federalist society members who despise our current government) could overturn
the
ultimate jurisdictional court. If the US does not return the boy and his father
to
CUba then the UN and international crowd will have another political wedge to
use
againts the US. China is trying to avoid negative press as well as Russia,
Korea,
India, Pakistan, etc. All becuase of noise from the U.S. in the UN. But the
US's hands
are not clean. And the delays in the Elian issues are causeing trouble.
Marshals would
have stormed the Cubans by now if not for WACO and Ruby Ridge. ALso I believe
the law
enforcement view the Miami Cubans as fanatics and cult like. A!
nd probably fear they would kill the boy rather than turn him over to his dad.

Wars have been started under less situations. And while CUba wuld not win vs
the US,
they would have alot of support from other countries including Mexico and
possible
Canada. The US is the only country who wants to let the courts rule even after
the
issue of the Father's rights were determined in the Father's favor. The CUban
courts
have supposedly granted the father parental custody even before the mother
(kidnapped
?) her son and tried to bring him to America. So if the boy does not go back to
CUba
then The US openly ignores laws of a foreign land and their diplomatic edge (so
called) will be tainted. Our constitution which we (AMericans) have died for
will be
breakable. And the seems of this countries fabric will start to unravel.

Their are people out there that know this issue can damage the US more than any
impeachment trial of the Prez or any government Desert Storm disease scandal.
So right
now they are (the justice dept.) trying to avoid bloodhed againts the Miami
Cubans.
The only reason that they formed a barrier around the house is that they know
federal
MArshals are right in Miami and just outside the neighborhood standing guard
againts
waiting for Reno's order. And if this wasn't an election year for GOre Reno
would have
already given the order. Bush doesn't care one way or another. He justs uses
this to
portray his anti comunism views fro the press. He would send all the cubans in
Miami
back to Cuba on the same flaoting device that Elian arrived on. Bush would
march them
all to the GUlf and say C'Ya make it home the best way you know how.
