Re: More police abuses

> >One cop even told him that "this is D.C. and the
Constituition doesn't mean anything here."
"You have no rights here." (Yes, he's talked to the
media.) They shackled Scott's right leg to his
left arm, and left him like<<

I was in the same holding cell as Scott - DC
General. What he said is true, but one officer did
try to find out where Scott's son had been placed.
The officer did the same with a man who was
trying to find his fiance.

Most of the cops we had watching over us were
just rookies, around our age (20-25). They had no
idea what they were doing and were incredibly
unorganized. We called them the "real anarchists."

One of the older cops was convinced that Ted
Turner was paying for us to be there. He said our
funding came from "high up," which was my cue to
yell "It's the Jews!" He replied, "That's what I'm
talking about."

My girlfriend, Anne, was also held in DC General
and it sounds like the women had it worse. Our
room was just dirty, the women's room had dried
blood and vomit stains.

Anne is extremely claustrophobic and being in
elavators freaks her out. When she was placed in
cuffs, face against the wall in the elevator she
began to get a little anxious. The officer asked
what was bothering her and when he found out
that she was claustrophobic, he stopped the
elevator & told her that it would be her holding cell
while laughing at her.

The busses that transported us were incredibly
hot and one girl became very sick. She told the
officer that she was going to vomit and he led her
to the back doors of the bus. He walked out, she
followed, and he let the doors shut on her head.

At 4 in the morning some of us were taken from
DC General to a Police Academy in DC Village -
the middle of nowhere. That is where we were
cuffed left hand to right foot. Those wanting
to make calls were made to hop to the phone
while cuffed like this.

They lost many of our arrest reports and found
substitute arresting officers for us. These officers
signed documents saying that they witnessed us
doing the highly subversive act of "parading
without a permit." Rather amazing, since these
cops had been in the office all night.

The officers patches say "The American
Experience." Too true. The rally we were arrested
at was against the prison industrial complex - a
protest against imprisonment's growing
dominance of the American experience.

The arrest was bullshit. The police pushed the
rally into the street to keep us away from the Gap.
Once in the street, they blocked us off for being in
the street. They then shut us off from behind and
held us like this for hours. We repeatedly asked
them to let us leave in twos. They wouldn't answer.
They asked the media to leave (we chanted "stay!"),
then moved in and arrested all of us.

They told the media that we were arrested
because we refused to disperse. Not only was
that order never given, but our many attempts to
leave peacefully were refused. Tourists who
watched it happen have all told the media that
the cops never gave the order. Because it was
such bullshit, many of them were on our side and
cheered us as we passed by.

We were put on busses at 5pm Saturday, I was
finally released to find my own way home from the
police academy at 9am Sunday, all but 2 hours of
that time was spent cuffed with those fucking
plastic ties.
