Colonial slavery could easily have been a chief momenta of American capitalism.

CB: This term "chief momenta" I get directly from Marx in Vol 1, the Chapter on
Primitive Accumulation toward the end. I don't have time to get it exactly now,
so ask
me if you can't find it. Marx says slavery and colonialism are the chief
momenta for
the primitive accumulation of ALL capitalism, not just the American capitalism.

In Australia slavery of Pacific Islanders was blantantly used for capitalist
production in Queensland, and Australian aborigines were enslaved elsewhere,
sometimes
under fuedal relations of production [eg Church missions] and sometimes under
capitalist relations for investors (English and Colonial).

Convict labour (various forms) were another precursor of Australian capitalism.
